PTE Academic

OFQUAL, the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation, recognizes the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) as an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) International qualification in England. ESOL International qualifications are primarily designed for candidates who are not native speakers of English and who wish to achieve a high quality, internationally recognized qualification in English that is available and recognized worldwide and at the highest level (RQF level 3 / CEFR C2).

They are suitable for candidates who are preparing for entry to higher education or professional employment. The descriptions of language proficiency in the Common European Framework Reference for Languages (CEFR) are the basis for the design of ESOL International qualifications. The levels in the CEFR have been mapped to the levels in the Regulatory Qualifications Framework (RQF) in England.
